Avoid encounters with wildlife
If you work in close proximity to bears and other wildlife, you need to learn how to avoid encounters. You also need to be prepared for when it does occur.
Wildlife Awareness training is a course that gives you the tools to avoid negative encounters with: bears, cougars, moose, wolves, coyotes and foxes. You will learn what to do in an encounter or attack. You will gain practical skills in the use of deterrents like bear spray. Participants will also learn about wildlife attractant management and current best practices. Students are taught how to reduce human impacts on wildlife populations.
There have been recent changes in wildlife safety standards for industry. Before working on sites with wildlife habitat areas, many employers will require workers to certify in bear safety, bear spray training or wildlife awareness training.
Wildlife sightings and conflicts occur year round. Be prepared every time you venture outdoors.
