Residents and oil and gas workers will soon be returning to the Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo Region. The fires have already destroyed over 500,000 hectares of land in the region. Many animals have lost their lives and those that did survive have lost habitat, shelter and natural food sources. Bears will likely be starving and in search of food.
